Who doesn't love some awesome Batarangs? Well now you can print your own from the video game Batman Arkam City (or Knight). For more details and to see the finished prints check out this video: https://youtu.be/Jm9yt5Pf-V4
I printed them in PLA on my Robo 3D R1. Then my wife did some amazing post processing on them.
Her basic steps were: Step 1: Sand any rough spots Step 2: Prime with White Plastic Primer Step 3: Paint with Matte Black Spray Paint Step 4: Mask off everything but the blades using tape or playdoh Step 5: Paint Chrome on the blades Step 6: Assemble and enjoy!
The Batarang comes in 4 parts: 2 blades, a top and a bottom coupler in the middle. The blades press fit onto the bottom and the top press fits on top of those. You may need a little glue to keep the top part on. I used super glue. Just make sure to leave the blades glue free as they are designed to rotate so they can open and close.
Print Settings: Layer Height: 0.3mm Infill: 20% Supports: Yes Raft: No

what kind of supports did you use? i have an ultimaker 3. i did the generic support and the underside of the blade is off i guess it wasnt right option as there are many options for support. other than that it is a nice print even though i am using cheap pla. what kind of material do you suggest?
My right wing is printing 100% infill? My da vinci 1.0 pro. Slices it for me. I have it set at 20% with .1 height low supports no rafts. The left wing is printing pretty honeycomb left is solid..Any idea why it's printing solid? Something in the stl?
That's strange, the blades should actually be the same model, it's just flipped over so the bottom layer won't be on top of one of the wings. When I get home tonight I'll check the files just to make sure they're okay. But in the mean time, you can just flip the wing that is working over and print it that way.
