That's a great question! The design is based on a Tau drop ship / bunker. Once the drop ship lands, the roof is lifted creating a firing port. My assumption is that there was no door in the original design for a robust, solid structure. When you wish to leave, it's out through the firing hatch!

The pictures and files are my new design that is a bit wider, so can hold more models.
