Description
I made a First Order Stormtrooper Helmet that can be printed in 8 sections on a Makerbot Replicator 2 style printer. It's a really material efficient design. I've made the support and printed out the parts already to proof out the design. Print out your helmet now and join order!
Printing Suggestions:
-Use material that doesn't have a tendency to warp as the seams will need to meet up well
-Slow your machine down to at least half it's max print speed.
-Use painters tape to hold parts together and super glue them in place.
-Use epoxy to strengthen the seams or your own choice of material to strengthen the seams. Just make sure to strengthen the seams.
-Have fun Printing!!!

Great design but do you have a model without the support. The support that you have provided is not working, it failed. Appreciate if you can send over the model without the support so we can provide our own. thanks
Dude Great Job, I printed this with no issues in PLA at 220 and 45, walls are thin but i make COSPLAY and the detail on this is awesome, now figuring out the correct size im printing at 120% but i think i might have to go to 140% not sure yet
Is the helmet full size?
Hi there, i would like to get your model. Iam just missing the hole model as stl without seperation and support. is there any chance you can include it
Great detail! Any chance you could include a single assembled STL file for those that would like to print one shot on a larger bed with their own support? Would save a lot of assembly time and sanding for those that have the option :)
Thank you for this beautiful model! While I'm waiting for my 3D printer to arrive, I've made a few changes on the model. I merged it together and got rid of the supports. I'll post some pics soon!
I have printed this design in PLA. I know that it is printable in PLA. If you want to print this design in ABS, it is my understanding it is very difficult to impossible.
This is bull**it, do not waste your money on this. cannot be printed in ABS and the author do not provide any help. the walls are very very thin, and built-in supports are useless
Cant print in ABS, walls are too thin, supports are too inclined, waste of money (very sad)
I'm sorry that you've had bad luck printing these parts. I have printed them in PLA and have posted pictures of the results so I know that it is printable.
the walls are too thin, can you make them at least double ?
Sorry for the late reply. I've been very busy with work. I could make the wall thicker, but it would take a very long time. It's not a quick process in Zbrush. If you've used this program, you know exactly what I'm up against.
Hello friend please tell me what size helmet? I want the head to fit, very cool model size printing surface I have 20 to 20 cm

Altough the model looks REALLY nice. The parts will not print as is with PLA (maybee abs would work better) I had the MaskRight part fail over 6 times already because the tubular support is too weak to be extruded to that height. I added supports with Simplify 3D to support the existing support Otherwise it would not pass the 50% mark.
Yikes! I'm sorry that the part was giving you so much trouble. I've only just put this model up for sale recently so I haven't seen too many reviews come in yet. Yes, perhaps ABS might work better with heated bed. I was able to print this helmet with my Replicator 2 using PLA and the support structures as uploaded. I one key element that I've noticed makes a huge difference with delicate details is speed. I'm glad you are using Simplify 3D because it lets you configure all sorts of stuff like speeds. Try slowing your printer to half it's max speed. It will take longer to print, but you will have used way less material *potentially*. I think it was the key factor for me. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Let me know if you need something reformatted or if my advice had no positive effect. If you have any advice about what you came up with, let me know I'll try to include it in this object or future objects.
How do you join the pieces together seemlessly?
I used painters tape to hold the pieces in place edge to edge. Then I used super glue to glue them permanently together. I went section by section (lefts and rights). It seemed to work really well. I would recommend using Epoxy on the inside seem to bridge and strengthen the bond. I've also used strips of polystyrene to strengthen the seam as well, but not everyone has polystyrene just laying around.
