Description

Kirov  reporting!

Kirov airship 3D model inspired by the famous strategy game from Westwood Studios/Electronic Arts, Red Alert. I made the model using Autodesk Fusion 360.

Printing settings:

For better tolerance, I printed the model 150% scale for parts:

body_part_1 - 4.stl,

wing.stl

engine.stl

engine_holder_side.stl

propeller.stl

boost.stl

All the other parts should be printed using 145% scaling.

200 micron layer height, 5-10% infill, only the very small parts needs higher infill.

Only keel_part_3.stl needs support, all the other parts can be printed without it.

All the parts take about 20 hours to print, and a half spool of PLA filament.

You only need sanding paper and super glue to put all the parts together.

List of parts, that needed more then once to print:

engine.stl (5x)

propeller.stl (5x)

engine_holder_side.stl (2x)

engine_holder_back.stl (3x)

bomb.stl (3x)

wing.stl (4x)

“Kirov reporting!” — absolute nostalgia! This model is insanely detailed, and I really appreciate you including exact scaling tips and part repetitions — makes the printing prep so much easier. I’m planning to paint mine after printing to match the in-game look.

Also, funny side note: while diving back into Red Alert and printing these classics, I’ve also been revisiting my favorite comfort foods from back in the day — El Pollo Loco still hits! I found a great site (https://elpollolocomenuprices.com/) that lists their full menu with current prices if anyone else is balancing retro gaming with modern eats.

Great to hear the engines turned out well with the 155% scale! If you’re interested, check out my website,ahttps://cavamenudallas.com/, for more design inspiration. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for sharing, this looks like it needs assembly. Printing with <a href='https://ujoybio3d.com'>metallic pla filament</a> might be better.

I printed this in resin on a anycubic photon, in original scale. Great result, parts fits perfectly. I loved the modeling. Thanks!

turned out great, printed the engines at 155% scale for easy fit.

I know it has been a while since this was kindly uploaded, but any chance you could specify what printer you used? -The quality seems outstanding. I am planning on buying a consumer-grade printer ~$500 and was wondering if you used something in that range, or an industrial quality one. Thank you !

there are number of printers you can get in price range with grat result, i just bought JG Aurora A5 and the result below me away. You may need to print numbers of time before you start getting good result out. Most important is the software you use, i love using Cura
