Summary
While experimenting with pause feature of my single extruder printer, I stumbled on an idea from tresdlito.

Made a similar one of marilyn.
Print the base in black and pause it at the appropriate height and change the filament to white to get the face embossed and let the print run its course.

Pause the print once it starts doing the face and change the filament to white. To pause the print, I use the command "M600" in the command line prointerface of Cura whenever I wish to pause and change the filament. There is a "pause at height" plugin in Cura to do the same more accurately.
M600 pauses the print, brings printhead to home, retracts filament, and beeps while waiting for user to change filament, upon changing filament and asking printer to resume, it resumes the print where it had left it.
