Description
Horned puffins are named for the fleshy, horn-like growth above their eyes. Puffins are also known as the sea parrot because of the large yellow, orange and red beaks they sport during courtship and breeding. This colorful outer layer is shed before they return to the open ocean from their nesting burrows. Puffins can "fly" underwater with their wings to catch small fish. Thanks for sharing this. I've been trying to learn puffin skeletal structure and this is really helpful.
