Description

By using this 3D printed Ukiyo-e technique, you can print this classic British repeating wallpaper design. The result is a beautiful picture of birds stealing strawberries! Try a this thoroughly modern version of the ancient art of Ukiyo-e for yourself. More designs to come.

Watch the video to see how to do the actual printing with acrylic paint.

Attention: There are 8 plates in total to print but I have split them and uploaded the first 4 here, due to the 100mb limit on Pinshape. Look for 'Part 2 ' https://pinshape.com/items/45749-3d-printed-the-strawberry-thief-part-2-part-1-required to get the other 4 plates.

There are 8 plates/colours in total. I have named each print to suggest what colour to use and which order they should be printed  for best results, but feel free to experiment, the plates will almost last forever.

I use 0.6mm nozzle and a 0.3mm layer. Use your normal settings for printing 100% solids. I don't recommend using high infill to achieve this, instead increase the top and bottom layers count to above 4 and it will make a solid if your layer height is indeed 0.2mm. The reason for not using a high percentage infill setting to get a solid print is to avoid long stretches of printer vibrations while it tries to do a very fine honeycomb structure. After printing each plate, use a sanding block and 120 grit sandpaper to make the top surface flat so it holds paint evenly. This does not take long if you have used PLA plastic. The solid strip of plastic at the right hand side is where you should attach your paper.
