Ruud has made steady progress in his career. At the Australian Open, he reached the fourth round, where he beat Jordan Thompson, Tommy Paul, and Radu Albot. However, he lost to Andrey Rublev in two sets. This result tied his father's best finish at the Australian Open. In February, Ruud reentered the top 25 at No. 24. In February of 2019, he reached the quarterfinals of the Acapulco Open, but lost to Alexander Zverev.
Casper Ruud is a professional tennis player from Norway. He is the highest-ranked Norwegian male ever, having reached the top spot at the ATP World Tour in 2018. He is also the first Norwegian male to win an ATP tournament. He was born in Snayra, Brum, Norway. He has won nine ATP Tour singles titles. In addition, he has also reached the semifinals of several ATP Tour Masters 1000 tournaments. Besides playing tennis, Ruud also enjoys golf.
In 2017, Ruud reached the main draw of the French Open after qualifying for the tournament. In the main draw, he lost to ninth seed John Isner. He also reached the semifinals of the Kitzbuhel Open, losing to Albert Ramos Vinolas. In 2018, he beat defending champion David Ferrer in straight sets. In the 2018 US Open, he reached the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament. However, he was beaten by Guillermo Verdasco and Federico Delbono.
Casper Ruud is the son of former Norwegian tennis player Christian Ruud. He started playing the sport at a young age. He made his professional debut at the 2015 French Open, where he lost to Corentin Denolly.
