A common problem with scuttle drains is getting clogged with organic debris like pine needles. This can be difficult to clean out. These "covers" act like a filter that blocks the larger sized debris and is easy to remove for periodic cleaning. I used TPU and the usual settings for PLA on my Anycubic Mega S.
