I printed this with black PLA. It was a couple of years ago, so I don't remember a ton of the details. I printed them with the "outside" of the box down which causes a lot of bridging, but I made the recesses deep enough that when you glue in the wooden verniers if you use a lot of glue and clamp it tightly the hanging bridge strands just act as good surface for glue.

I used a fairly thick wood, maybe as thick as cereal box cardboard.
