Pendulum Wave: Relating Wavelength to Frequency
Free

A Pendulum Wave offers a unique opportunity to analyse the properties of waves.

This mechanism is an effective and engaging method to teach students about the relationship between wavelength and frequency. I came up with this lesson plan while teaching a Youth Physics Camp. I needed an exciting way to teach students this physics concept. I found that students were very interested in building the physical model. Many were intrigued by the movements and patterns of the pendulum wave. I also allowed the students to design there own pendulum weights using the TinkerCAD software. Many students were excited to see Minions, and other self designed pieces, swinging on the pendulum.

I have attached a lesson plan and video that would aid teachers in using this tool.
