Summary I really like this lamp, but was disappointed there wasn't a cover over the magnifier. Possibly a sunbeam through the lens could burn my house down but I mainly wanted to avoid dust and fingerprints. The hinge mechanism doesn't snap to the frame quite like I envisioned it, but the fit is snug enough it does not matter.
