I got the idea for this part from an architect who wanted to design a building that used a smooth curve connecting 2 offset polygons. This part uses 2 squares, one of which is offset and rotated, as the control curves for a single Loft surface. Then I made a polar array of 4 of these to produce the final design. The tricky part was finding values for the offset X, Y , and Z distances and the rotation angle that allowed for the sides of the 4 loft surfaces to line up properly.
Lofts2 will use a pentagon instead of a square - and will be bigger!
This part printed in 14 1/4 hours using a print speed of 80 mm/sec and a layer height of 0.200 mm.
