A friend at work asked me if I could print a stand for a painted rose sculpture he had. I said sure, just give me a drawing of what you have in mind. He did that, and not finding anything online that would fit what he needed, I created his drawing in 123D Design.
The holder is a simple V-shaped design with a cymbal-shaped base. It could be scaled to make it suitable for pens, pencils or other long tubular objects.
I printed this with Polyalchemy Elixir Abyss filament. That filament really has a great shine. No post-printing work needed.
The arm angle is 45 degrees so most printers should be able to print it without supports. The stands shown were printed at .2mm layer height and 25% infill.
