



Maelstrom is the name of the geometric component I used to create the swirl shape that is inside each cell of this container. I made a rectangular array of these cells and then mapped that onto a surface of revolution, and completed the part with a solid bottom. You can read about the design software I use here.
It's difficult to see the actual shape of the swirls due to the see-through nature of this part, so for the last 2 images I filled it with tortollini. Maybe I should have used chocolate chips.
This part printed in 17 hrs. 50 min. using a print speed of 80 mm/sec and a layer height of 0.200 mm. To have a successful print your printer will need to avoid stringing and be able to do short bridge segments.
