Description
I had some green PLA filament left, and I wanted to try to do something that would be challenging to print without any support. So, here's a little cactus (42mm high). Quite simple (and extremely useless) but interesting to print with no support whatsoever (you may even watch the timelapse video of the printing process). It don't know if it qualifies as "art" but I think it's kind of decorative. :) Edit : I've also designed a support free printable little pot that perfectly fits this cactus! ;)

Design a little planter pot for it to go into. Would make a nice office cubicle decoration it did. :)
I was actually thinking about it! :)
I have some orange filament now, I guess that would be fine to make the pot.
I'll try to do that this week-end… I'll put it on my PinShape page as soon as it's done, of course. ;)
a rather simplistic design but portrays much creativiety. Printing one myself
Cool. :)
Thanks! :)
It actually took some trial-and-error steps to find a correct angle for the cactus parts. Also, I tried to print it as an empty shell (Cura allows that, for instance) and… it didn't work at all! The filament collapsed while printing the secondary cactus parts, so… It needs somme filling, like 20%, to make sure it holds the perimeter shell. A fan to cool it down as it's printed is also probably necessary. I use one, and it works fine, but I didn't try without it, but I guess it really helps.
Ended up printing this little dude out :)
Watched the timelapse. Really amazed at how clean and easy it came out! Cool design
