This is designed to be a modular, 3D printable, 40mm gas mask filter. Contrary to some other similar designs, this one is easily printable with little to no supports, and is the proper size to actually stop large amounts of chemicals/particles. Filter paper can be cut from a HEPA air conditioning filter or from somewhere else and sandwiched between the filter holder and filter ring. This filter component can then be threaded into the inside of the main canister body. Activated Carbon can be packed in between two particulate filters in this way to supply NBC protection. Everything should thread into place nicely with a bit of resistance. Teflon tape around the canister threads or silicone caulking could be used to improve the air seals in certain areas. Nylon could be used as an ideal printing material due to its high chemical resistance and strength. If you have a Russian gas mask, or one with GOST threads (as opposed to NATO), print the GOST version of the main canister body.
NOTE: This design should not be relied upon to save your life. DO NOT USE IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. Use common sense to decide when a 3D printed part should be relied upon.
